FISCAR - 50s Sports Car Racing

"Welcome to the Fifties Sports Car Racing Club - The focal point for drivers and enthusiasts who are passionate about competing in  legendary Sports Cars, from the era that gave birth to the World Sports Car Championship."  So goes the opening statement on the website for the 50's Sports Car Racing Club (FISCAR).

The idea germinated from members of the Aston Martin Owner's Club and some like minded racers, who were looking to recreate the atmosphere and style of competition from the 1950s. On the FISCAR website you will find all the information you need to enter.  Lists of eligible cars (not exhaustive) are accompanied by details of "Marque Captains" who will be leading teams of cars for each marque as the name suggests.

Clearly the organisers are taking this very seriously.  They have an elected committeee and even a first date for the 2012 calendar at Brands Hatch on 5 May.  Furthermore they are a MSA recognised club which, I believe, allows them to organise their own race meetings.

I especially like the idea of running clips from 50's racing films (the current one is the starting scene from Checkpoint with Stanley Baker), on the front page.  Worth a look just for that.

Now, where did I put that MGA Twin Cam?

  1. Peter, very grateful, and thanks for 'advertising' us. Much appreciated. As you know we had a very successful launch at Donington and a classy field at a very wet Brands. Next is MG Live at Silverstone on 24th June where we have a very healthy entry indeed.
